IMF Statement on Pakistan

Mr. Nathan Porter, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief for Pakistan, issued the following statement:

“We had very productive meetings with Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Miftah Ismail, on Pakistan’s economic and policy developments under the Expanded Financing Facility (EFF) program. We agreed that prompt action is needed to cancel unfunded grants that have slowed discussions for the 7th review.Based on constructive discussions with authorities in Washington, the IMF plans to send a mission to Pakistan in May to resume policy discussions. completion of the 7th EFF review The authorities also requested the IMF to extend the EFF arrangement until June 2023 as a signal of their commitment to address existing challenges and achieve program objectives.”
